Designer Stadsvazen - City Vase

Jan-Gert Kamping, a designer from Enschede, wants to make the Netherlands more beautiful with the City Vase. He brings the vases to life through a unique production process.

City Vase – a city captured in form and story

The City Vase is no ordinary vase. It's a tribute to the growth, layers, and soul of a city. Each design tells the story of a place—from its earliest contours to its dynamic silhouette today. The vase captures the city's development in a single object: from settlement to metropolis.

From city limits to skyline

Unique to the City Vase is its use of the city's historic silhouette. The base of the vase often reflects the original city boundaries, formed by ramparts, waterways, or ancient trade routes. As the vase rises, its shapes follow the urban expansion: new neighborhoods, industrial zones, modern architecture. This creates a layered profile that literally reflects the city's growth.

Together we make the world more beautiful!

The City Vase is made of sustainable materials such as ceramic, while the smaller vases are made of PLA, thus respecting the environment.

Where is the City Vase made?

In the heart of Enschede, the vases are developed and produced using techniques such as 3D printing and ceramics. We are currently busy producing the vases using a unique ceramic process; more on this soon.
